The current advances in generative artificial intelligence has large impact on a variety of fields, such as knowledge assessment, story writing, image and object generation, co-programming among others. The generative capabilities are especially advantageous for cooperative creativity and such will influence industrial design but also further engineering applications. Here, we provide an overview on our current research on text-to-3D models as shape-generative method for aerodynamic design optimization, the analysis of large engineering data sets through natural language in a dialogue fashion and interactive co-programming for executing machine learning tasks. We detail our findings using the first design optimization framework comprising a text-to-3D model coupled with aerodynamic simulations for novel ways of search space exploration with learning-based models for innovative designs, and our currently ongoing work on discussion-style, dialogue-based design optimization and engineering data science increasing the accessibility to expert domain knowledge and tools for improved decision-making.
