abstract = {In interaction with intelligent machines, it can be challenging for people to discern what a machine is focusing on, even though this understanding is often crucial for interaction success.
This talk introduces a novel approach for machine agents to communicate their attention using a method we call {\textquotedblleft}Mirror Eyes{\textquotedblright}. These artificial eyes go beyond human abilities by showing not only where a machine is looking, but also by dynamically reflecting what it is focused on, like a mirror.
We will present results from two user studies that demonstrate the benefits of two different instances of this concept in machine-mediated social interaction and cooperative human-robot interaction. The results show that users can better understand a machine{\textquoteright}s focus and intention, leading to improved collaboration and user experience.
By leveraging the Mirror Eye concept, we can facilitate the way we interact with technology and create more intuitive, cooperative machines.
